MEET THE ARTIST

Yawayi (hello), and welcome.

I’m Jacinta Vale, the Founder and Weaver behind Weaving Our Stories.

My mob are the Dunghutti and Gumbayanggirr people from Armidale and Kempsey. I have lived on Meanjin country (Brisbane) for the last 10 years with my children and grandson, and it is now home for us.

Weaving has been such a big part of my journey and has somewhat healed parts of me that I never thought could heal. In 2019, I suffered a traumatic brain injury and underwent emergency brain surgery. By God's grace, I am alive today and able to share my story through my weaving. I’m a self-taught weaver who now teaches others and often travels home to country to do that through workshops.
When I weave, I weave stories… whether they are mine or yours. Full of meaning and love!
Self-expression, peace, purpose, and gratitude are some of the many things I feel when I am creating.
My biggest passion is to help others start to heal their trauma and their stories through weaving.

Much love,

Jacinta
